Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle (GGSSC) carried out? Mission Implementation March? appealing the local administration for a complete implementation of Cigarettes and Other Tobacco products act, 2003.

Around 1500 students from forty local schools took part along with their Principals and Teachers and senior members of GGSSC demanding the complete enforcement of this act. Dr. Charan Kamal Singh, Chief Secretary, GGSSC said that this act was formulated three years back by the Ministry of Health, according to which no tobacco or liquor shop can operate within 100 yards of an educational institution.

Smoking is prohibited in public places like bus stands, railway stations, cinema halls etc. and those found violating this should be fined up to Rs. 200. He said that the local administration has done nothing much to enforce this law as people are still smoking freely on public places and tobacco shops operating without any obstruction in front of schools and colleges thus alluring our youth towards these deadly drugs. He said that the organization is working vigorously to create a drug free society from the past three decades. Presently we are running three de-addiction centers in Punjab and Directorate of Social and Health Services, GGSSC is carrying out lectures, seminars and awareness activities to prevent our youth from falling prey to this noxious web.

A memorandum along with photographic evidences of tobacco and liquor shops operating in front of local schools and colleges was submitted to Deputy Commissioner and S. S. P by Dr. Charan Kamal Singh, Chief Secretary, GGSSC to take strict action on those who are violating this law.
