Ludhiana 20th August,? Gurbani Recitation Competition? held at Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Bhai Randhir Singh Nagar, dedicated to the 4th centenary Martyrdom of Sri Guru Arjan Dev ji
in which more than 400 students from various schools and colleges took part. Dr Charan Kamal Singh, Chief Secretary, GGSSC said that the purpose behind organizing such competitions is to motivate the children to develop a habit of learning gurbani right from the childhood. The students are segregated in 3 age groups i.e. the first group comprise of students below the age of 10 yrs, second between the age of 10-15 yrs and third group consist of students between the age of 15-25 yrs. The winners were judged on the basis of correct pronunciation and number of Banis .
The winners were awarded with cycles sponsored by Avon Cycles, wrist watches, T- Shirts, Books and certificates. Dr Charan Kamal singh expressed his gratitude S. Nanak Singh, President, Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha, E Block, Bhai Randhir Singh Nagar and other committee members for their valuable support. S. Gursharan Singh, S. Tarlochan Singh, S. Iqbal Singh, S. Amarjeet Singh Texla, S. Dilbag Singh, S. Harbans Singh, Bibi Chandeep Kaur were also present at this time.
Mansimar Kaur of class IIIrd stood first in Group Ist for recting 26 Banis, Manmeet Kaur class VIII in Group IInd for recting 38 Banis and Jasleen Kaur of Class X stood first in the Group IIIrd for recting 51 Banis. All three are real sisters and students of Guru Nanak Public School, Sarabha Nagar Ludhiana.
