Seminar on - Concept of Martyrdom in Sikhism

Mohali 28th May Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle organized a seminar dedicated to the 4th centenary of martyrdom of Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji at Shivalik Public School, S.A.S Nagar (Mohali).

Pr. Ram Singh, Chief Organizer, GGSSC, said that this seminar is 3rd in the series of seminars being organized by Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle dedicated to the Martyrdom of the 5th Guru, Sri Guru Arjan Dev ji. The theme of this seminar was? Concept of Martyrdom in Sikhism? . He said that martyrdom in Sikhism is a fundamental concept and represents an important institution of the faith. Emphasizing at this, he said that the concept was emphatically laid down by Guru Arjan Dev Ji and the history of the Guru period as well as the subsequent history of the Sikhs is an open expression, in thought and deed, of this basic doctrine.

Professors, Principals, Teachers and students of different colleges from Ropar, Chandigarh and Mohali attended this seminar. Capt. Kanwaljit Singh, Former finance minister, Punjab presided over in this seminar. Addressing the congregation, he said that Sikhs have always given their lives in upholding righteousness, under the most painful and chilling circumstances, providing testimony of their faith with their blood.Bibi Jagir Kaur was the chief guest on this occasion. Dr. Kharak Singh, Dr Kirpal Singh read there thought provoking papers and shared there opinions with the audience. Pr. Ram Singh, Dr. Rajinderpal Singh, Dr. Jagir Singh and other sikh intellectuals were also present at this seminar.
