A National Moral Educational Camp was organised by Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle at Guru Ram Dass Academy in Dehradun (Uttaranchal) from 7th to 11th June which was dedicated to the 4th Centenary of Guru Arjan Dev ji's Martyrdom.
This camp was attended by more than 600 students of secondary and higher secondary classes belonging to Punjab, Haryana, Uttranchal, UP, Rajasthan, J & K and Delhi. S. Raja Singh Chairman, GRD Educational Trust inaugurated this camp by unfurling the Sikh flag. The campers presented the Guard of Honour to Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. The students vowed that they would abide by the tenets of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and they would neither use drugs nor they will study agnostic and negative literature.
During this camp the Chief Secretary of Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle Dr. Charan Kamal Singh spoke on the theme of "Social Service During Studentship". In this connection, he explained a work plan to be followed up by teachers and students. The Deputy Chief Organizer S.Barjinderpal Singh spoke on the topic of "Skillful Student Life-a base of complete personality" and explained that a complete personality has three main facets i.e. Physical appearance, Social behavior and Personal attitude. These can be shaped only during student life.
Director, Multimedia Directorate, Dr. Pushpinder Singh presented a slide show containing inspirations as available from Sikh History. The Deputy Chief Organizer S. Ranjit Singh also spoke on this occasion. Director, Youth Services and Camp principal, S.Satnam Singh Salhopuri presented a Slide Show on the topic of "Aardaas" (Sikh Prayer). Director, Social Empowerment & Economic Development, S.Iqbal Singh expressed his views on various possibilities of Self Employment.
A Panel discussion on "Apostasy Among the Sikh Youth - Its Reasons, Solution and Future Planning" was organized. Dr. Charan Kamal Singh, Dr. Hari Singh Jachak, S.Satnam Singh Sallhopuri, Advocate Narinder Singh and S.Tejinder Singh Khizrabadi, S. Surinderpal Singh Sidki, S.Gurcharan Singh and S.Manjit Singh acted as panelists and large number of students participated in this panel discussion with great enthusiasm.
During this camp, a seminar was held which was dedicated to the martyrdom of Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji. The theme of this seminar was "Gurbani - A modern way of life". Prof. Balwinderpal Singh, S. Jaswant Singh 'Aman', S. Jatinderpal Singh read out the thought provoking papers. Prof. Varinder Singh, Dehradun was the Chief Guest. Principal Ram Singh presented the key-note address.
Various groups of students participated in group discussion during this camp. The question-answer session greatly impressed the audience. The team of S. Amanpreet Singh Sallopuri held training for "Turban Tying". The training of "Gatka" was also held under the supervision of S. Ravinderpal Singh and S.Baljinder Singh, Talwandi Sabo. Plays, Mono-acting and Mimicry on the evils of drugs and female feticides were performed by the students of Mukatsar.
The review and closing session was presided over by S. Raja Singh. During this session, students presented their views and suggestions for the improvement. Other senior dignitaries including Prin. Ram Singh Chief Organizer, Dr. Charan Kamal Singh Chief Secretary, S.Inderpal Singh, Deputy Chief Organizer, S. Ranjit Singh, Deputy Chief Organizer, S. Gurmit Singh Founder Member, S. Jatinderpal Singh Founder Member were also present at this time.
