Panel Discussion on? Female Foeticides?

On the eve of International Women Day, Directorate of Social Empowerment & Economic Development, GGSSC in collaboration with Punjab Women Commission organized a panel discussion on? Female Foeticides? at Master Tara Singh Memorial College for Women, Ludhiana.

Chairperson of Punjab Women Commission Mrs. Parminder Kaur was the Chief Guest at this occasion. She called upon the well informed youth of today, especially the girl students to empower themselves with the scientific knowledge & create a desirable atmosphere in the families so that female foeticides is discouraged. S.Inderpal Singh, Deputy Chief Organisor (PR) of GGSSC while addressing the discussion, stressed upon the role of NGO? s to fight against the problem of female foeticides. Mr. Parag Jain, I.P.S., D.I.G. Punjab Police said that the serious lacunae prevailing in the present administrative mechanism can? t help much in the solution of this problem. Education and effective measures and bold stand taken by women (mother) themselves can help in mitigating the incidence of female foeticides. The panelist of the discussion included Retd. Session Judge and President, District Consumer Forum, Avtar Singh Narula, Prof. Balwinderpal Singh, Head, Economics Dept, GHG Khalsa College, Sudhar (Ludhiana), Dr. Mandeep Kaur, Gynaecologist, Ms. Roma Kaur, International Coordinator, Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle, Mrs. Karamjit Kaur, Financial Director,? Kaurs? Magazine. Principal Ram Singh, Chief Organisor, GGSSC thanked Mrs.Madanjit Kaur, Principal, Master Tara Singh Memorial College, Ludhiana, Mrs. Inderjit Kaur, Professor, Incharge College Unit and all the staff members for their co-operation.
